Classmates,
The blog is up and running, as you can see. Anyone can see it at any time, but only registered class members can post. I sent each of you an invitation to ‘register’ and post, and I hope you will do that. (If you need me to resend that invitation, I'll be glad to do that.) So far, five of us have registered, and I know Beth Whitten Swoap is trying but has to get a password back from Goggle before it will take effect. (She’s not quite as smart as the rest of us, you know!)
Anyway, the more people who post, the more interesting and valuable it will be. Posting doesn’t have to be anything profound. In fact, some of the most interesting will probably be more incidental things. I hope that you will also put some memories from our high school years together on the blog. The nice thing about the blog is that it saves everything posted, which can be found in the ‘Blog Archive’ on the left side. Also, if when you post something and you want to go back and change it, you can do that easily. I change posts all the time, after I’ve put them up, including deleting them if I change my mind. You’ve just got to play around with it and learn how it works. Don’t worry, you can’t do anything to damage or destroy the blog, as least as far as I know.
The blog makes more sense for us than the ‘newsletter’ on the class website, because everyone can put up their own posts here, without relying on me to do it. And that’s good!!
I do want to say this: as creator and ‘administrator’ of the blog, I reserve the right to alter or delete any post that I consider ‘inappropriate’. It’s harder to define than that, and I don’t anticipate exercising that ‘right’, but I will serve as a blog ‘referee’, so it doesn’t serve as a divisive force among us rather than the uniting and bonding force that I envision it to be. I hope that doesn't sound presumptuous or arrogant, but I think someone has to take on that responsibility.
I hope the blog becomes a source of enjoyment and good memories for us. Go for it!!!
Best to all,
Carl
